Magazine Layout

This week we are working on our magazine layouts.
Mine will be a sports magazine, and the article i have chosen is about the rugby world cup final 2011.

We have to put atleast 3 images in 2 of which are our own.
This a photo i have picked for my article.

 the one below is what i have done to it so far in photoshop.

 i have also made some graphics using illustrator to put in my magazine spread.

My Character, Grum

Yesterday we finished our Characters. Mine is Grum, Son of the Grim Reaper.

I found the hardest part writing a back story to go with the character.

Character creation in Illustrator

Today we are Using Illustrator to create a Character.

My Character is going to be the Grim Reapers son.

It is coming along alright so far. The pencil tool is alot easier to use then the pen tool.

My (rushed below average) Logo

The last few days we have been working on designing a logo.
My logo is for my Fantasy Football team "The Kaniere Kings".

I did not leave myself enough time to finish it as i would have liked.
Here is the finished product...

I needed more time spent on the soccer ball.

Learning Illustrator and designing our own logo

On Monday we started using Adobe Illustrator. So far iv found it frustrating and quite hard to use the pen tool but i am slowing getting better with practice.

At the moment we are designing our own logo. My logo is going to be for my Fantasy Football team, The Kaniere Kings. I have sketched my ideas into my visual dairy and now im going to get those ideas on to illustrator.

First Assignment, Take A Walk.

Yesterday we started our first assignment, Take A Walk.
We were given camera's in our group and sent out into the neighborhood to take photo's of thing we thought we could use to tell a story about the walk or the neighborhood.

 My Picture is about the neighborhood diversity, Nice new houses and then just over the fence old run down state houses.

We have till lunch time on Friday to complete our assignment which must include, Hand drawn images, Photos of our walk and some text.

I will post the final product when it is done.

 This is my finished work. The Lamps are hand drawn. My favorite part is the map showing through onto the road. Area's i need improvement are using the pen tool to cut odd shapes and blending background images.

Contact sheets, the golden ratio, thumb nails and photoshop photoshop photoshop!

The last 3 days have been a mixture of different lessons, but mostly they are all to do with point of view depth of field and the golden ratio.

We measured our selves on Wednesday to see who in the class had the "perfect body" by the golden ratio. Our group was quite far off in almost every measurement.

Yesterday we looked at some designs and photo's and tried to take some idea's from the images we looked at and design our own ideas.

We also took some photo's yesterday and had a play around on photoshop. I played with the masking and black and white effects to make the photo i have added to my blog.

Today we are Contact sheets, We have been taking photo's of things that look like letters to spell out a popular phrase.
Our phrase was "Out of the blue".
It was hard to find a things that look like a "B" but after a bit of cropping it turned out ok.
